Blog Topics

This year blogging has been a unique form of our creative writing. Even though blogging has been fun and filled with freedom of speech, I feel that the blog topics that were posted each week were very general. With this I felt that it was hard to create a four paragraph blog on specific posts that were made throughout the year. I will explain to you why I feel this way, and how I think the blog topics could be improved so that the writer could have more creative words.

First, I think the blog topics were much too general. What I mean by this is that the topics didn't have too much "meat" to them. Which means that it was very hard to have a strong opinion on what little information about the topic I had. Even though there were some very good blog topics that were very easy to create a strong opinion on there were still some blog topics throughout the year that frustrated me to the point where I gave up on writing them because I could not think of anything to write on them.

Secondly, I will share my opinion on how blog topics can be improved so that it is much easier to write about them. I think that when a blog topic is created, there should be much more thought put into them, then a last minute idea because you forgot that you had to post a topic. Also I think that you should really think about what topic you choose, and think about if other people would have a strong opinion on your topic.

In conclusion, I think that people should really think about their blog topics before they carelessly post them and frusterate their peers because of the very general topic that they posted. Also they need to really think ahead of time about their topic. I hope that some of the grade 7's will read this blog and really take time next year to provide a good topic for their peers to give their opinion on.

For this week, I commented on Remy's blog about Uniforms.

The Cove

The documentary was very informative. It showed me how mean people could be to animals. I think that this was a very good way of getting the cause attention. The Cove had exciting scenes of the activists trying to get photos and videos of the way they were treating the dolphins. It kept my attention more then most other documentaries. In this blog I will tell you the reasons why I think this documentary was incredibly important to the protection of dolphins.

First, the inhumane slaughtering of dolphins, without people knowing is a huge problem! I feel that the government should be preventing this instead of supporting it. Also that they slaughter so many without people knowing, in a hidden cove! This is why getting proof of the slaughter was so vital to help dolphins because it got people more aware of what is going on right under their nose.

Second, they sold the dolphin meat as whale meat. Dolphin meat has high mercury in it because it there is a lot of pollution in the ocean. When consumed by a human, this can cause fatal illnesses and diseases that can spread throughout the population. This is unacceptable because it is inhumane to both dolphins and humans because of diseases for the humans and slaughtering dolphins.

To conclude, I feel that the slaughtering of dolphins is unacceptable. The government is hiding it and the population of Japan has no clue whats happening right under their nose. Also that the government is supporting the hidden dolphin meat in whale meat packaging even though it is toxic to humans. SAVE THE DOLPHINS!!

Done school, now what?

Well for me its a little hard to think of exactly what I'm planning on doing after school, but I do have a draft plan for at least right now. My idea for what I'm going to do starts of with what I want to be, an architect! Also now where i want to go for my future in architecture and civil engineering in the world. In the paragraphs below i will expand on my idea for the future.

First, my job, an architect. There are many types of architects, and the one i want to be is a civil engineer and design and make blue prints for new public buildings. I want to be an architect because i love building stuff and best of all making designs for them. My idea is to start my own company so that I can be and architect, but also be a successful business man.

Second, where i want to work. I love Canada and North America and have spent most of my childhood traveling all over North America, so anywhere in NA is good. Although there are some favourite places i would want to work in including: Vancouver, Calgary, Ottawa and L.A.

Well now you know what I want to be and where I want to work. This is my draft idea or plan for when I'm done school, but that's not for a while so I cant get too excited. I now hope that maybe you can TRY to make your life plan almost half as good as mine!

Where would I go

Many people have great dreams and fantasies about going to brand new and undiscovered planets and solar systems. Although I am not one of these people, in my opinion i feel that the greatest sights and geological landforms are right under are nose. I will explain to you why i believe this is true and why instead of going to new solar systems to travel and take a step on every square inch of the great planet that we already inhabit!

Our planet, planet Earth in my opinion is the most wonderful out of all the planets already discovered. I mean think about most of the other planets we know about are made of gases, so to me that's not really that great. We have so many unbelievable sights and great landforms that in my opinion should be just a little more 'awwwed' over.

I think that, for me instead of going and exploring new places that i would like to enjoy what great things we already have before humans destroy possibly the greatest planet out there. This means that before we all try to migrate to new and mysterious places that we at least think about all the great things we have before we abandon Earth, because of all the pollution.

To conclude I would like to try and take a step on every square inch of the Earths surface before I even think about moving and exploring new planets. With this I hope that least people take in some of this and think just a little more on the great planet we already have before just carelessly destroying it and thinking of new places to inhabit, and marvel over the great and still mysterious things this Earths holds!

Justin Bieber

Hm, Justin Bieber the king of pop, being compared to Micheal Jackson. Both of these statments are being made right now, Justin Bieber has not earned the right to be compared to Micheal Jackson let alone be said to be the new king of pop. In this blog i will tell you why i believe this and why these comparisons are outrageous!

First, the statement about being the new king of pop, i don't think so! Justin Bieber has been around for 2 maybe 3 years and has not even had three albums yet! Justin Bieber may have gotten something like 70 million views on you tube, but Micheal Jackson reached out to hundreds of millions with his music and through that was deemed the king of pop. This is why i don't think Justin Bieber and king of pop should ever be related to each other.

Second, Justin Bieber being compared to Micheal Jackson, this should not even be brought up here are some reasons. Micheal Jackson joined a group with his four brothers when he was 8 and worked very hard, and was worked very hard by his father to be the best, he then went on to have an amazing career with The Jackson 5, then later on had an even more prosperous solo career. Justin Bieber just made some videos on you tube when he was 12 so that his relatives could see him in his singing competition. Also Micheal Jackson reached out with his music to both genders and all ages, well Justin bieber's audience consists of girls from the ages 8-16.

Well...what do you think should he compared to Micheal Jackson, or be the new king of pop! I certainly don't think he should, and i also don't think he has enough potential to ever be compared or deemed the new king of pop!

Uniforms

Uniforms are a necessary item all kids at any private or public school need to wear. Now people may think that this represents our school in tremendous ways to show that all our students are model kids. Well let me explain to you why this may not be true in all cases and why students should not be forced to wear them.

First, we're just kids and should not be forced to wear uniforms that make us seem like we're adults, there is plenty of time for that when we work in an office and have to dress accordingly. Being 13 years old I have had to wear a uniform since kindergarten, year after year, after year its the same old thing gray pants and a white shirt and tie with a sweater. This is not what i kid should have to wear 5 out of 7 days of the week.

Second, very few students actually wear their uniform properly all the time, so does this really represent our school properly. Instead the school should have a dress code but with regular clothing like they do on civvies days. This means that students can still wear what they want just with an appropriate manner.

To conclude i think uniforms are just plain stupid I don't like walking around dressed like i would be when I'm 30. Also that kids should have freedom to dress but within certain boundaries, i believe that this will both represent the school better and let kids wear want they want for their childhood.

Even Song, Even Song, Even Song, how much more boring can it get. Like really can people take in that no 11-18 year old kid wants to take time out of their childhood to be forced to sit through Even song. Actually I should say standing through Even song, I mean sure people take religion very seriously and would want to do that anyways, but not me for I’m not a believer or at least not in religion(sorry Canon Hulse). So here are two reasons why us non-believers should not have to stand through Even Song.

First, our families pay a lot of money to have us go to this school and not for Even Song but for the tremendous education that we are provided with as oppose to a regular public school. I’m sure that me and my parents would much rather have me doing school work than singing hymns. So for this reason I think Even Song should be optional.

Second, I don’t believe in the church or any religion for that matter. To some that is a sin but for me it is a choice and it is truly what I ‘believe’ in. Therefore why should I be forced to stand through Even Song when I don’t even believe in what is being said or sung.

To conclude I think that instead of Even Song we should be learning, because I think most kids would want to learn as oppose to Even Song. Also that it should be a choice to go and not during school but after or before, so that people who are religious can pray and sing and still have the same learning experience as the rest of us.

Future!!

In the future I feel that there will be many new inventions and ways to improve life to make it easier to the common man. Some people think that technology is moving way to fast and that science is to young to understand certain things, but not me I think that with the advance in science today we need more technology to be able to master all we can using technology. Scientists and inventors are already creating new inventions and ideas for the future, but ho many of them are green inventions? So I will help by giving some of my ideas to help people in the future but also make them to help people conserve the earth for future generations.

My first idea/invention is an air traffic system for flying cars that are sure to be created very soon. This system will be much like the one we have now on the ground, but in the air. This will help by creating more room for urban development, yet also conserve the country. This is because trees can be grown and farms can be expanded to where used to roads, but is now free land. Just think how many more farms and country we will have if all the traffic and transportation systems are in the air!

My second idea is to have vacuum type machines beside the drains on the curb. This will suck up any garbage that people leave on the curb and collect it in a big garbage disposal bin underneath the sidewalks (this idea will only work if the first idea doesn’t, because all the cars and traffic systems will be in the air). This could be another way to help clean up the earth and preserve it.

Well I hope some lucky scientist or inventor reads this web log and tries to create one of these inventions. I know that if these are created that they will help man in its push through the technology breakthrough and continue working on finding all that is to be found.

MY SUPERHERO and his POWER's

Captain, I am the best superhero to ever live! This is my superhero name, i chose this name because it describes my superhero best. Now all superhero's guard one city like New York, Chicago etc... So just to fit in i decided that I too would guard one city. This city is Miami, i chose this city because i think it is a sweet city and deserves to be protected from tons of evil villains. Now being as that I'm a superhero I need to have some super powers, so here they are and a description on why I would have them and how I would use them.

My first power would be flying. I love to fly and what a better way to travel around Miami catching villains then flying. Just for superhero efficiency flying would be the way to travel. Also if you get out numbered and have to escape (not that I would ever have to) flying away would make for a quick getaway.

Second, I would have super strength, just for fighting even the toughest evil criminals. I would be able to throw massive objects at the bad guys, and just be overall superior in combat. Also i could have super accelerator suit that would excel my body for super speed and super agility. This improves my overall chance of protecting the fine citizens of Miami.

My last super power would be invisibility, this would increase my super stealth skills. This will also help me sneak up on enemies for optimum attack force! Also if a swift escape was needed i could turn invisible.

So just to conclude because my superhero is so awesome never would the citizens of Maimi be in any danger!

If you could be anyone

Well there are many people i would want to be for a day and it is very hard to pick just one. Rock stars, pro-athletes and movie stars i think would be most people's choice but not for me. I wouldn't want to be a famous person or athlete for just one day i would want to be an animal. Now you may think what a stupid choice, but in my opinion its not! The animal i would pick to be for a day would be a kangaroo(which by the way is my favourite animal)! Now let me tell you why i would want to be a kangaroo.

First, who doesn't like to hop, and what do you do when your a kangaroo.....you hop! Imagine you and your kangaroo friends just hopping around all day in the desert, exploring and getting into so miscellaneous marsupial matter.

Also, kangaroo's are great boxers so you could have some boxing fights with your friends. Plus when your a kangaroo or any animal for that matter you would have no rules and no school, work or deadlines. All there would be was needing to get food, water and just having awesome adventures with your kangaroo pals.

All these reasons add to why kangaroo's are my favourite animal. This is also why i would choose to be a kangaroo for a day even if i could be anyone in the world. HOP ON!

Did you know?

After watching the video I was stunned from the facts and now realizing how much the population and the technology is increasing. Every year both of these things in numbers are growing at a rate more than the previous year. In my opinion this rate is too fast for humanity to stop it.

The population is way too much now and now that’s increasing at this rate I predict soon the earth will become too small to hold all of the inhabitants. A long time ago the myan’s predicted hat in 2012 there would be world wide catastrophes that would deplete the world population back to and tiny amount compared to what is now. I believe in this because without this happening there soon there will be too many people to live on the earth and not enough resources to accommodate all of just an average person's needs.

Also technology is increasing at an extremely fast rate that in time are world could become over run by technology. This could mean that all the world's different countries heritages could be lost by the increasing amount of technology. This is critical to the survival of different cultures.

At the end of the video it asked' so what does this all mean' well i think it means that for population there is soon going to be too many people on the earth and not enough food. Technology on the other hand i think will take over different cultures and heritages.

I was stunned! Yet very disappointed. A lady by the name of Eva Olsson came to our school and talked to us about a great tragedy that affected her and 11 million other people. She explained to us that one word caused a murder of 11 million people this word is "hate".

Now for a second just imagine being told to get out of your homes and pack your bags this is exactly what Eva Olsson was told to do her and her 6 brothers and sisters and her mom and dad were being told the same thing. Once the got out of their homes the walked 10 km just to get to a train that would be packed full of other Jewish people and they were on the train for 3 days before they arrived at Auschwitz. This was a concentration camp where Eva started her horrible journey.

She told us many stories about her journey and throughout the presentation I was shocked and stunned that 11 million people, Jewish people were murdered because of one word, one religion this is just to overwhelming to think that this many people were just tortured, murdered wiped off the planet. This really bothered me to think how evil one man could be to command his army to slaughter and torture 11 million Jews.

The thing I found amazing about Eva Olsson was that even though her family was brutally murdered she had the courage and the strength to fight through the horrible living conditions and end up surviving the Holocaust. Eva Olsson is a survivor but more of all a hero.

Norval/Team Building Day!

Norval was once again a great expirence, except that this time was much bettter. One we did some crazy activities that made me have more trust in my peers. These activities also made certain people show great leadership skills and also as a group we were able to make great plan, ideas and goals. Also what an adreanaline rush climbing that wall was amazing how a group of 13 year olds were able to climb a 14" wall with nothing but 16 kids and a flat wall. I aslo enjoyed the drum circle very much it was so interesting to hear many different intruments playing at the same time.

Let me explain to you what Norval is. Norval is a place owned by UCC and it is used to ecourage young people to work together and learn new leadership skills. Norval has many high rope courses to help students have trusts in their peers. It also hase some low rope courses to trust and respect your peers ideas and to have everyone make group dicisions.

We also had the privlige of expirencing a drum circle that was lead by the Drum Cafe. I learned that many of my peers had great ideas and that as a group we could work great together to get the goal accomplished. Many of the people that are usually shy contributed in great amounts and it was really cool to see everyone expressing their opinions through their own drum also different people were given other instruments and when evryine played them at once and stoped and started all at the sane time was really amazing to see. Overall I personally had a great time at Norval and learned alot I think this is a great team building day and it was also alot of fun!

There are many things that are great in life, many of these things are items that people consider to be big, but there are also things that are amazing that are small unusual compared to everyday objects. For intanse im going to talk to you about something that I find absoulutly, unbelievably amazing, this item is a pen. Just think for a second how many special or important documents would not have been made or signed without a pen.

Also a pen can write down work, feelings, documents, history, and many other things. How many other items can do that? Now many people take a pen for granted but just think how your life would without one and how important it is. The other speacial thing im going to talk about is a shoe.

Now you may be asking well why a shoe, well there are many reasons why i think a shoe is so speacial. One, a shoe can tell u evrything about a person. Where they've been, What style they are. Where there from. What they did. A shoe can tell you lot's of things that I bet you never thought they could. Also a shoe can do many things like take you places and most importantly provide comfort for your foot at the most desprite of times.

These are just two of the things you should learn to appritiate everyday. Hopefully i've insired you to take the time and think about your own little thing that is small and unreconized and think of how important it is to you.

We Day!!

We Day was awsome! First, there was many famous people there to give speeches and inspire youth to go from me to we. Some of these people include Mike "pinball" clemens and craig and mark keilburger. Second, there was entertainment, preformers include Justin Bieber, Jonas Brothers and Hedley. Last, I learned about an issue that is a massive problem and needs to be fixed and that there is a no better solution then to teach and inspire youth to change the world.

Personally as a audiance member i felt that all of the speeches were very well written and spoken. These speeches were written to inspire youth to change the world and they did a great job hearing the crowd cheer and scream about changing the world and seeing all the passion made me fell inspired to do something. My favorite speech was Mike Clemens him talking was so insipreing and he was so passionate about his speech and what he was talking about.

I had many great memories that will stay with me forever and also many great thoughts and speeches that will remind me to do something good for the rest of my life. After We Day I felt inspired and I still feel that way and I hope that I will be able to make a great deal of change in someone or something's world for the better.

Poverty

I feel that poverty is a serious and a growing issue. Many people belive that poverty is only an issue in 3rd world countries but 1 in 6 children are living in poverty. Of course I belive that we should help other countries but i also feel that there should be more to be done in our own communities. Many people already are involved in helping our community and other countries but there is still a need for more!

Now there is about 600 billion dollars invested at Wall Street every year. Yet to feed every person in poverty in the world for a year is 3 billion dollars. This fact stunnded me that people are worrying so much about thereself and that if everyone in the world gave 50 cents then that would equal 3 billion dollars, enough to feed the whole poverty population.

To conclude i feel that there is good things being done and we're well on are way to helping poverty but let's keep going and fix this problem.
